Tour Plan

1

DAY 1: TRANSFER TO MURCHISON FALLS AND ZIWA RHINOS.

Depart for Murchison Falls a distance of about 272 kilometres with a stop at the Rhino Sanctuary in Wobulenzi to track the Rhinos for about 2 hours. You will then proceed to Murchison Falls with lunch at the accommodation after check-in. Afternoon at leisure with dinner and overnight at the accommodation. Drive time: Approximately 4-5 hours.

DAY 2: BODONGO CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND HIKE TO THE TOP OF THE FALLS.

After breakfast, our guide will take you to the Budongo Forest headquarters for a briefing on Chimpanzee trekking Dos and Don’ts. Thereafter, start your primate walk in the Budongo Forest guided by the forest’s knowledgeable and experienced ranger guides. You will also spot different bird species and other primates as they sway in the trees. On spotting the chimpanzees you will be allowed one hour of observations and photography before you return to the Lodge for lunch. Afternoon at leisure, with dinner and overnight at the accommodation Drive time: Approximately 2 hours.

DAY 3: MORNING GAME DRIVE AND LAUNCH CRUISE ON THE NILE.

After an early breakfast, you will depart for an early morning drive for 3 hours to spot some of the available wildlife like the buffaloes, giraffes and some of the big cats like the lions, and leopards. You will return to the accommodation for lunch then after leave for an afternoon launch cruise on the Victoria Nile to the bottom of the falls you will spot several herds of buffaloes, crocodiles, hippos etc. as they flock the River Nile to drink water as well as some water bird species. As you continue upstream to the base of the falls, you will observe how the water squeezes in a narrow gorge to explode in what has been referred to as the strongest waterfalls on the planet Earth. Return to the accommodation for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: MORNING GAME DRIVE AND LATE AFTERNOON DELTA CRUISE.

After an early breakfast, you will return to the northern bank of the River Nile for yet another game drive in search of some of the wild animals that you could have missed seeing during your previous game drives. Return to the lodge for lunch and afterwards leave for a late afternoon boat cruise to the Albert Delta. You may find elephants, buffaloes and hippos crossing the delta while crocodiles are also taking the opportunity of this crossing to catch the vulnerable animals. There are also high chances that you will spot the rare Shoebill stock. Return to the accommodation for dinner and overnight.

DAY 5: TRANSFER TO HOIMA TOWN.

After breakfast, you will drive to Hoima town a distance of about 78 kilometres/3 hours’ drive via LAKE LBERT a beautiful scenery and escarpments. Check in to the accommodation for lunch with an option of a cultural visit or relax at the accommodation in Kontik. Drive time: 3 hours

DAY 6: TRANSFER TO KIBALE NATIONAL PARK.

After breakfast, you will drive to Kibale Forest National Park with a stop in Fort Portal Town for lunch before proceeding to Kibale National Park. On arrival at the accommodation take some rest, dinner and overnight. Drive time: Approximately 4 hours.

DAY 7: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND BIGODI WETLAND WALK.

After breakfast with a packed lunch to move with, you will then be transferred to Kibale National Park headquarters located at Kanyanchu for briefing before you proceed into the forest for a guided chimpanzee trekking primate forest walk with a well-trained and experienced ranger/guide. On spotting the Chimpanzees you will be allowed to spend about an hour with these apes to observe their behavior and take photographs. This forest is also home to other 13 primate species and numerous species of forest birds. After lunch, you will drive to Bigodi Village for a wetland walk for 1-2hours. These wetlands are managed by the local community surrounding the park to benefit the local community living around the Forest. Dinner and overnight at the accommodation.

DAY 8: TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK.

After breakfast, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park driving through small towns, foothills and small rivers that originate from Rwenzori mountain ranges as well as crossing the Equator at Kikorongo. On arrival check in to your accommodation for relaxation as you prepare for a late afternoon game drive in the Mweya Peninsular which is well endowed with Antelopes, Buffaloes, Warthogs, and elephants with a probability of spotting some lions and leopards. Drive time: Approximately 3-4 hours.

DAY 9: GAME DRIVE AND BOAT CRUISE.

After an early morning breakfast drive to Kasenyi plains for a game viewing to spot the big cats like the Lions and  Leopards since  It’s this time of the morning that the big cats are usually out to hunt for their prey. You will also be able to spot buffaloes, hippos, several species of antelopes, and many more. After lunch drive to Mweya for an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel for a 2-hour cruise with an opportunity to view over 300 out of the 700 water bird species recorded here, antelopes, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and hippos. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 10: CHIMANZEE TREKKING AND LAKE KATWE.

After breakfast, you will drive to Kyambura for briefing and their after start your Chimpanzee walk in the Gorge. Your experienced ranger guide will help you identify several flora and fauna species resident in this gorge. Once spot a chimpanzee community, you will be allowed to spend about one hour with them for photography. Return to the accommodation for lunch and short relaxation after the trek before moving out for a visit to Lake Katwe salt mines. Lake Katwe is an explosive crater which is gifted with salt. The local community have been mining/extracting salt from this lake for decades. A local guide from the community will take you on a tour around the salt mines and explain how salt extraction is done and more. Return to the accommodation for dinner and overnight.

DAY 11: TRANSFER TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK.

After breakfast, check out then drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, located in southwestern Uganda and shared between three districts of Kabale, Kanungu and Kisoro. Your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park will take you through the terraced gardens of Irish potatoes and tea on the rolling hills. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to almost half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas and the only National Park where wild chimpanzees co-exist with mountain gorillas. You will arrive late afternoon with a late lunch at the accommodation, dinner and overnight. Drive time: Approximately 5-6 hours.

DAY 12: GORILLA TRACKING AND VILLAGE WALK.

After breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters to join other trekkers to be allocated a Gorilla family that you will trek with a full briefing concerning the Dos and Don’ts while with the gorillas. After that, you will be driven to the starting point of your allocated gorilla family to start your trek into the beautiful, dense Impenetrable Bwindi Forest. This trek may take between 3-5 hours of the day, depending on where the Mountain Gorillas will be found. Please note that gorilla trekking can be strenuous and needs a certain level of fitness. On spotting the gorilla family you will be allowed to spend one hour observing and taking photographs which is a worthwhile experience. Return to the park headquarters to be awarded a certificate in recognition of your effort in contributing to the conservation of these endangered mountain gorillas. Return to the accommodation for relaxation followed by a village walk in the evening to learn more about the local people living around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park who have done a great job in conserving the forest and the gorillas. Dinner and overnight at the accommodation.

DAY 13: TRANSFER TO LAKE BUNYONYI. (WAKANDA)

After breakfast and check-out, drive to Lake Bunyonyi one of the three Lava damned Lakes in Uganda located in Kabale district. The Lake was formed when lava flowing from one of the volcanoes blocked a river channel and water was forced to flow back hence filling the space to create the Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is the deepest lake in Uganda and the second deepest in East Africa. The beauty of Lake Bunyonyi is one of the best places in Uganda to relax after your gorilla trek. The beautiful scenery and abundance of small birds are sure to amaze you. Dinner and overnight at the Resort. Drive time: Approximately 3-4 hours.

DAY 14: CANOEING / HIKING.

After breakfast, you will have a chance for a canoe ride on the lake to explore the different Islands with exciting histories behind them. Like the Punishment Island where girls who conceived babies out of legitimate traditional marriage would be dumped and left to die. This is a whole day activity and you will surely enjoy it. Alternatively, you can hike one of the hills around Lake Bunyonyi. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

DAY 15: TO LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK.

After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park via Igongo Cultural Center to learn more about the cultures of the ethnic groups in western Uganda. We will have a Lunch stop en route. You will arrive at Lake Mburo National Park just in time for an evening game drive. Lake Mburo National Park is popular for animals such as Impalas, Giraffes, Zebras and so much more. Return to the accommodation for dinner and overnight. Drive time: Approximately 6 hours.

DAY 16: DROP-OFF.

After breakfast, embark on your journey to Entebbe International Airport with a stop at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe for photography and stretching or drop-off at your hotel. Drive time: Approximately 5-6 hours.
