Trekking through the dense forests to observe these gentle giants in their natural habitat is an awe-inspiring experience, offering intimate and rare wildlife moments. Beyond gorillas, Rwanda’s landscapes of rolling hills, vibrant lakes, and vibrant culture make it a unique destination. Visitors can also explore Kigali, the country’s modern capital or enjoy relaxing by Lake Kivu.

Uganda is famed for its rich biodiversity and is home to a variety of primates. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park offers one of the best opportunities to trek gorillas, while Kibale National Park is known as the primate capital of the world. Here, travellers can track chimpanzees and other primates, such as colobus monkeys and L’Hoest’s monkeys. Uganda’s varied landscapes also include the savannahs of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where game drives reveal lions, elephants, and hippos, making it a prime location for a well-rounded wildlife experience.

DAY 1: KIGALI-VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK.

After breakfast, embark on your journey to Ruhengeri with a visit to the genocide memorials, with lunch en route. Leave for an evening visit to the amazing twin Lakes (Burera and Ruhondo). Dinner and overnight at the accommodation.

DAY 2: RWANDA GORILLAS- TRANSFER TO KISORO/LAKE MUTANDA.

Enjoy an early morning breakfast before meeting with our guide and transfer to Volcanoes National Park head offices for a briefing on the mountain gorillas dos and don’ts and what to expect in the forest as well. After briefing enter the forest to search for the mountain gorillas, an experience which takes an estimated 2 hours walking to reach the territory where the mountain gorillas are resting then spend 1 hour with the gorillas taking photos and videos. After the tracking experience, transfer to the Ugandan side via the Chanika border and have your dinner and overnight at the accommodation.

DAY 3: BWINDI- QUEEN ELIZABETH SAFARI.

After an early morning Breakfast, you will embark on the 3-hour journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Lunch will be en route. On arrival at Queen Elizabeth National Park, check into the accommodation for some rest. Later in the evening enjoy a late evening game drive in the Ishasha sector to search for the tree-climbing lions in the wild. Dinner and overnight at your accommodation.

DAY 4: GAME DRIVE AND LAUNCH CRUISE.

After a very early morning coffee or tea, leave for a morning game drive to look for some wildlife species like the big cats lions, elephants, and leopards plus some buffaloes, warthogs, water and bushbuck with much more to see during the drive, return to the lodge for breakfast at leisure. After lunch, head for a launch cruise along the Kazinga channel that connects Lake George to Lake Edward, as you expect to spot the wildlife and birds at the banks of the channel. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 5: TRANSFER KIBALE NATIONAL PARK.

After a Morning breakfast, drive to Kibale National Park which is well known for Chimpanzee tracking and is ranked as the top destination for chimpanzee habituation in Uganda, passing through the Crater Lakes before arriving at the hotel in the later evening for check-in, dinner and overnight at the accommodation

DAY 6: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING & BIGODI WALK.

Enjoy an early breakfast and then head to the tracking headquarters for briefing and guidelines before heading for the forest in search of the chimpanzees. On this walk, expect to spot other primates like the white and black Columbus, and Vervet monkey, manageably. Return to lodge for lunch and some rest, after which in the evening, go for the Bigodi walk with chances of spotting the rare shoe bill and other primates. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 7: TRANSFER TO KAMPALA / KIGALI.

Depending on the client’s interest, you will embark into the safari jeep and drive to Kampala or Kigali with lunch en route.
